Dear SBS Families,

We are indeed off to a great start here at St. Bernadette School!  It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Back to School Night.  I want to remind you of the importance of our partnership for the sake of your children.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me, or your child’s teacher, with questions, comments, or concerns.  It is together that we educate and share our Faith with your children.  Thank you for entrusting them to our care.

Ice Cream Sale:  Ice cream will be sold every Friday at lunch time for $1.00.  If your child is in preschool or kindergarten, please send them money in an envelope clearly labeled with your child's name and teacher.

Home and School Association - All parents are members of this organization.  Please remember to submit your dues.

Scholastic Book Fair - Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will be the week of October 6th.  Ms. Sheen, our Librarian is looking for parent volunteers to assist with this.  If you are able to help, please email her at asheen@stbl.org.  The Book Fair will be open on Wednesday, October 8th from 6:30 – 8 PM.

Service Club – Under Documents you will find the registration form for the St. Leonie Aviat Service Club.  I have also included an outline of our school wide service projects for the year.  Please support our Peanut Butter and Jelly drive between now and September 25th.

Office for Child and Youth Protection:  Under Documents, there is a reminder from the Office for Child and Youth Protection regarding the importance of having all clearances in place in order to volunteer in school, including chaperoning field trips.

Parkway Run:  On Sunday, September 28th, there will be a Parkway Run to support CHOP.  Recently, 4th grader, Lizzy Hennessy, was diagnosed with leukemia and has been receiving treatment at CHOP.  We are in the process of organizing a St. Bernadette’s Team to walk/run in support of Lizzy and the excellent treatment she is receiving at CHOP.  Now is the time to register to be a part of our team.  To join our team, you simply have to go to website: http://parkway.chop.edu/. Search for our team name “ Bernie Bears” to join our team. You can register to walk a 2 K course or run a 5 K race.  You can also make all donations to our team through this site. Lizzy won the contest for designing shirts to be sold at the race. We are very proud of her!
DCIU Parent Trainings: See the flyers regarding free trainings offered by the DCIU.

New information about St. Bernadette Grocery and National Scrip Programs!!
GROCERY SCRIP:
Grocery scrip (store gift cards) turns everyday purchases into tuition vouchers for St. Bernadette CCD registrations fees, St. Bernadette School tuition and High School tuition for you!  It is a great way to raise money for yourself and the parish at the same time.  Under the current program, 4% of every dollar you purchase on SCRIP is returned to you in the form of a tuition voucher.  (Purchase $100 of scrip and receive a $4 voucher, purchase $200 of scrip and receive a $8 voucher, etc.)  These tuition vouchers quickly add up and reduce the amount that you pay for tuition!
